Website Design Guidelines

Google are extremely helpful in guiding people on what makes a good website, and if you follow these guidelines it will increase your page rank.
This information has been extracted from their Google Webmaster Tools page
- Have an easy navigation system, where all pages can be accessed
- Each subject should have its own page, with well written copy that contains useful information
- Think about the words that people will type into a search engine, then use those words in your copy.
- Use text instead of images wherever you can.
- Don’t embed text inside an image in order to use the correct typeface, as search engines won’t be able to read it.
- Also you cannot enlarge embedded text, so that is not good for anyone with eyesight problems.
- Give every image an “alt” tag that is a good accurate description.
- Every page needs a Title tag that is also a good accurate description – this is what appears at the top of your brower.
- Check you don’t have any broken links.
- Don’t have more than 100 links to a page.
