Website Quality Guidelines
Posted by jane - May 6, 2010
This third post taken from Google Webmaster recommendations.
They advise that bad tricks can have a negative affect on your place in search engines.
Design/build your website for users, not search engines. Good quality content is the best way to improve your site ranking.
Good quality links improve your website, so people find what they are looking for.
Don’t participate in link farms, unauthorised computer programs.
Make sure your text is visible, ie don’t use white text on a white background so that no-one can read it.
Don’t duplicate content or websites, use re-directs instead.
Don’t use cloaking – this shows a different content than what you actually see on the screen. In other words including html text when a Flash file has been used.
As mentioned previously, this information has been extracted from Google Webmaster Tools to give you a helpful insight. Thanks Google.
