Fake LinkedIn e-mails

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Just read an interesting post by Adam White at Kintish Ltd. They have a Group of which I am a member called Kintish Business Networking and Adam highlights a problem that Cisco reported on about billions of fake LinkedIn e-mails.

They include links that could install data-stealing malware on computers if clicked on. Read the full article by Elinor Mills at CNET News.

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Redruth Chamber of Commerce have chosen their Charity for the Annual Fundraising Dinner taking place on Saturday November 13th at 7.00pm, to be held at The Penventon Park Hotel.

The theme this year is ‘Speakeasy’ – so we are hoping lots of Gangsters and Molls will turn up! Mind as it is set in the days of Prohibition it won’t be easy to find us, and you will need your Ticket and Password to gain entry.

We are hoping to have as much fun as last year and raise lots of money for RedYOUth – who describe themselves as

Are you making the most of Word?

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

It isn’t often that you hear a Graphic Designer praising Word – but it does have some very good uses, especially if you want to save some money but still look professional.

By setting up some Templates and making good use of Style Sheets all your documents can look the same, and as result add credibility to your business.

Depending on your printer and the design you can even use Word for all your letterheads. Of course if you use a lot of headed paper then the best option is to get them printed professionally, but if not then Word can be used very effectively.

Not just for your Letterheads though, also product data sheets, invoices, certificates, menus, forms . . . the list goes on. However the secret of your success will be in the design of your Word document, but I could help you.

Let me design some templates and style sheets for you — with custom colours if required. I will then demonstrate how they work and then you do the rest.

Monday, September 20th, 2010

We have some new tenants moving into Pool Innovation Centre.

Actually it is one large company -  Guava, they are taking up four large offices on the first floor. They needed professional help to move all their stuff and the removal company were very busy on Friday.

The car park is filling up this morning but it will be nice to have a few more people around the place.

Pool Innovation Centre is definitely the place for Search Engine Optimisation companies – Guava makes three. The other two are 3White Hats and SEMTO.

Website for Ken Barrett

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

It’s been a pretty hectic week but the website for the artist and conceptual illustrator Ken Barrett, has just gone live.

Ken Barrett is an artist and conceptual illustrator whose work blends use of traditional forms (2D, 3D, video and performance) with opportunities for dialogue and participation. Much of it takes the form of projects that have a tendency to perforate boundaries (the religious and the secular, ‘high’ and ‘low’ culture, memory and nostalgia etc.). The website showcases his varied portfolio.

He is nearing completion of his MA in Fine Art Contemporary Practice at University College Falmouth, and they will be holding their exhibition next week.
