Watching Condurro book roll off the presses

Monday, February 28th, 2011

Over the last 18 months I have been involved with a large project that Girlguiding Cornwall has been undertaking to record the history of their campsite at Condurro.

The project has had funding from The Lottery Heritage Fund and has grown out of being just a small idea to a wonderful 48 page full colour book.

It was decided it would be a good project for some of the Senior Section Guides to become involved with, and with help from various organisations, have recorded the history of the campsite since it first opened, with personal memories, old photographs from the Cornish Studies Library, including a visit from Lady Baden Powell.

Part of the project included a visit to St Austell Printing Company to watch the pages roll of the printing press. Jon Hart, from St Austell Printing Company gave an extensive tour of their works, explaining the processes as we went.

Receipt Books

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

West Cornwall Business Networking Club recently asked me to design their Receipt Books. This group meets once a week at the beautifully located Tregenna Castle Hotel overlooking St Ives for a Networking Breakfast.

I attend on a regular basis and they are a friendly club, which makes getting up early and driving to St Ives for Breakfast worthwhile!

Sue and Emily, who run the Club, felt they needed professional designed and printed Receipt Books and they wanted the design to reflect the location. The sun has a dual purpose, one to reflect sunny St Ives, but also it gives an indication of the friendly welcome that you will receive.

Come along if you are free – every Wednesday 7.45pm at Tregenna Castle Hotel, St Ives.

Joining CoaST

Monday, February 21st, 2011

As part of having completed The Green Foundation course, and improving the impact Hooper Graphics has on the environment I have joined CoaST – Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project.

CoaST is a social enterprise project that is working towards tourism that provides benefits to the people, economy and environment, whilst operating within their own our social, financial and environmental means.

Everyone that lives and works in Cornwall is involved in the Tourism industry, either directly or indirectly, and this project is a wonderful resource of useful information, including templates, business support. I feel we are privileged to live and work in this beautiful county and I would like to keep it as it is.

Found on Google

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

I am delighted to report that even those The Green Clearance Company website has only been live for one week, it has been found and indexed on Google.

This has been achieved by the search engine optimisation best practice rules that Hooper Graphics follow, combined with the advice that I gave to Ed and Bonnie at The Green Clearance Company. The best results are always achieved if you work in partnership together.

Of course appearing higher on Google pages for specific keywords will take a little longer and need to be monitored, finding out what people are searching for, where they are coming from etc, but it is a good start.

So don’t forget to check out their website if you are looking for a house clearance company in Cornwall.

Website for Green Clearance Company

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

The website for Green Clearance Company, designed and built by Hooper Graphics, has just gone live.

I think this is a brilliant idea, they aim to re-home, reuse and recycle everything possible from each clearance undertaken, so it is really green.

Green-Clearance Company

We often throw away items that are perfectly usable, we just don’t want them anymore. They take a wide range of items from furniture to electrical items, carpets, shop fittings.
