Marketing your Product

Friday, March 30th, 2012

I have recently succumbed to some good marketing, but with disappointing results.

Making a nice cup of coffee

In good marketing you look to get your product in as many outlets as you can. So if you sell your product in your own outlet (or shop) it makes good marketing sense to sell the products in other outlets (or shops).

So recently I purchased a well known brand of coffee from a well known supermarket to recreate the test at home. Result = disappointment.

Is it me? Do I not make the coffee the same? Or in fact does the coffee normally taste good because of the “coffee experience” and not necessarily the taste of the coffee?

It doesn’t really matter what the answer is, because the end result is that I will not buy it again to consume at home.

Lesson to be learnt, make sure your product matches your marketing!

Facebook Timeline is Changing

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

Does your business have its own page on Facebook?

If it does, did you realise it is changing at the end of March? It will take on the new timeline layout and it may be you need to make some changes. I know at the time of writing this blog that I also need to do it. So what is it all about and what should you do?

I have found some useful tips that will help me to understand it, so I thought it would be helpful to share with you.

This one is all about getting the best image for the top of your timeline, I really like this feature because you can now have two images, one large and one small. Here is another one all about images, that might be helpful.

This article says you can change the timeline back to  the Year 1000, not sure how relevant that will be, but it would be good to have Hooper Graphics going back to  2004 when we started up. So I need to do some work on that one!

This article from the crazy lady Michelle Holmes, is lots of fun but more importantly gives some really helpful steps on how to make the most of your new timeline, definitely worth a read!

The Mashable gives a list of six really helpful tips on how you can use the new Facebook Timeline as an essential marketing tool.

Hope they help you, the certainly helped me, know I just need to make some time to implement them!

Testimonial from Girlguiding Cornwall

Thursday, March 8th, 2012

We received a lovely testimonial the other day from Girlguiding Cornwall. We have worked with Girlguiding Cornwall for over 20 years, helping them with the printing requirements, but this is the first time we have helped them with their website. So it is great to know they are happy.

Here is what Mary Eddy (County Commissioner, Girlguiding Cornwall – 2006 to 2011) had to say

Girlguiding Cornwall wanted a completely different, updated website and approached Jane Hooper to do this.  We had a vague idea of what we wanted and Jane has done an excellent job in carrying out our wishes and designing the new website for us.  It is now more user friendly and good to the eye with lots of photos of our Girlguiding members.  We also wanted a secure ‘Members’ Area’ and Jane has set this up for us.  She has shown us how to edit the site and to enter information ourselves, which is so very helpful and she or Mark are there to help at all times.  Nothing has been too much trouble for Hooper Graphics and I would recommend them to anyone wanting assistance with their website.  Have a look ours – www.girlguidingcornwall.co.uk
